3D Modeller & Animators

Job Description for 3D Modeller and Animator

Location: AYA's office is based in Croydon (10 minutes walk from East or West Croydon over land stations). However, most of this work will be done from home, with phone and email support, so you will need home access to a computer and the internet.

Reporting to: Technical Lead

Main purpose of 3D Modeller and Animator

To produce 3d models and animations to a quality standards and in accordance with the Islam in British Stone project demands and timescales.

General duties and responsibilities

  1. Work on modelling and animations in accordance with production schedules set by the Technical Lead.
  2. Report back to the Technical Lead on progress and raise any other issues that may need to be addressed.
  3. Ensure models and animation content created is consistent with the style set out by the Technical Lead.
  4. Check the quality of work prior to submission with the Technical Lead.
  5. Undertake additional routine tasks on an ad-hoc basis as the project requires.
  6. Able to work productively with other teams/specialities, particularly programmers.
  7. Participate in team meetings and actively contribute to the development of work in progress.
  8. Offer solutions to problems to maximise the efficiency and contribute to the overall development of the project.

Skills

  • Knowledge of 3D modelling and animation software (3DS Max).
  • Knowledge of animation/technical constraints.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Sound grounding in the fundamentals of anatomy is essential.

Experience

  • Previous experience within the games/film industry would be desirable.
  • Self-disciplined and able to work to deadlines demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
  • Able to produce a range of scenic animation to include creativity, timing, seamless movement and optimised performance.
  • Knowledge of motion capture techniques and rigging would be useful but not essential.
  • Able to promote good animation practice and to share knowledge/experience with others, particularly juniors/trainees.
  • Experience with cut-scenes and knowledge of cinematography.
  • Keep up-to-date with technological/game advancements and knowledge of games generally.

Qualifications

  • Completed or currently studying a 3D modelling or animation-related qualification or have relevant experience supported with a portfolio/showreel.
